Oconee County public school children will fill up the classrooms today and mark the end of summer recess.  Day one of the new school year is a reminder for everyone to be careful in and around school zones.  Watch for pedestrian and school bus traffic across the county.

Details on last night’s drowning in Lake Keowee remain incomplete this morning.  Coroner Karl Addis says the victim at the Fall Creek Landing near Salem is an Upstate man. Addis last night was in the process of notifying the man’s family.  The victim’s name, age, and city of residence are to be announced by the coroner today.

Late at night a motorcycle crossed a rural roadway in Oconee, hit a fence, and overturned.  Authorities say the sole occupant of the Harley Davidson died.  Coroner Addis says Trapper Scott Freeman was 38 year old, resident of Green Springs Drive, Westminster.
