James Clements, president of Clemson University, has been confirmed as the keynote speaker for this year’s Apple Festival Rotary Luncheon in Westminster.  The occasion, a highlight of the South Carolina Apple Festival week, takes place at 1 o’clock Friday afternoon, September 8 at the Westminster Baptist Church.

Part of the adequate workforce problem is a lack of housing for which workers can afford.  On Monday the Clemson City Council considers a $225 thousand real estate contract for 2.58 acres to create workforce housing.  Clemson has federal funds for the project.

State troopers are deferring to the coroner to publicly identify the fatality in a motorcycle accident in rural Anderson County.  According to trooper Brittney Glover, the 11:39 pm accident occurred when the motorcyclist encountered a tree across the highway on U-S 178 at SC 88, six miles east of Pendleton.
