New economic development idea for Clemson

Discussion is planned today at the Clemson City Hall of an idea to create a new use for CATbuses during low passenger volume times in summer.  At 12:30 today, Clemson’s economic development advisory committee will consider the potential use of the passenger buses to transport visitors from hotels to Clemson summer camps and to spots around the city.

Gunshot was fatal in Seneca

The Oconee coroner announces that a 34-year old woman died Sunday night in Seneca of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.  The office of Coroner Karl Addis and the Seneca police continue to investigate what happened around 7:30 pm outside a home at 211 Allen Street.  The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of a gunshot to the head.

Outside firm to recruit and hire teacher subs

The task to find adequate substitute teachers has prompted Oconee school administrators to engage an outside firm to recruit and hire subs.  But the district’s arrangement with Kelly Education Partnership has prompted a flurry of questions from District One trustee Amanda Holder.  Her comments, along with those of the superintendent, Dr. Thorsland, can be heard today on 101.7/WGOG NEWS.
