Construction is underway

Transferring a state-owned road

At its meeting next week, Clemson City Council will discuss something that the Oconee County Council has been loathe to consider.  It’s accepting ownership and maintenance of a state-owned road.  In this case, the proposal is for Clemson to add North Clemson Avenue to the city’s inventory of streets.  Clemson City Council meets Monday night at City Hall. Above-normal rainfall in the basin of the upper Savannah River has prompted the Army Corps of Engineers today to make controlled spillway releases at the three major dams.  Late word from a Corps’ spokesman is that the Thurmond spillways were opened at 4 o’clock this morning.  The Hartwell and Russell spillways are now on schedule to be opened this afternoon or tomorrow.
