Fire fighters last night say they were able to put a stop to a garage fire at a home on the Burnt Tanyard Road inside the Keowee-Ebenezer Fire District. Fire damage is said to have been limited to the side of a garage attached to a home.

Public safety authorities summoned Red Cross last night to the scene of a home fire near Westminster. The Red Cross is assisting those people displaced by a home fire on Sandy Lane in the vicinity of the Clearmont Community. Fire authorities were alerted to the fire shortly before 8:45 last night.
