The West Union mayor, Linda Oliver, says tree-cutting off Main Street is preparatory for the construction of additional Habitat for Humanity homes in her town.  Homebuilding is apparently proceeding at a brisk rate Oconee has not seen in recent years, and there are rumblings about a big “box” store that may be in the offing in the Seneca area.

Scott scolds consumer protection director

In a Washington hearing, South Carolina’s Tim Scott scolded Rohit Chopra, director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, for pursuing what the senator says is a progressive regulatory agenda.  Scott believes the agency’s actions have reduced access to credit, limit consumer choice, discourage financial responsibility, and increases costs to Americans.
