A wire service account has executives of two failed U-S banks deflecting blame, but Senator Tim Scott, South Carolina Republican, believes there was rampant mismanagement and, during a hearing, demanded answers and accountability.  Scott addressed executives of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank during a hearing of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs.

Big doings soon in Newry

Word is out that one of the components for the transformation in Newry community is near ready for its grand opening.  Newry boosters say their new general store will have grand opening at 10 o’clock Tuesday morning, May 30.  Dari McBride, president of the Oconee Chamber of Commerce, says the store will be an “amazing new addition to Oconee County.”
