Word is out that one of the components for the transformation in Newry community is near ready for its grand opening.  Newry boosters say their new general store will have grand opening at 10 o’clock Tuesday morning, May 30.  Dari McBride, president of the Oconee Chamber of Commerce, says the store will be an “amazing new addition to Oconee County.”

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering is getting a new home at Clemson University.  Ground was broken today for a 143 thousand square foot building designed for education and research.  The price tag:  $130 million and the timetable calls for a late 2025 opening.

Medical transport was required this morning for a Pendleton motorist whose Kia overturned on U-S 123 between Seneca and Clemson.  The state patrol logged the accident at 10:05 this morning and reported that the driver said he took evasive action to avoid an object on the pavement, but that’s when his car went out of control and flipped.

While supplies last, the Oconee Humane Society will give away dog food Wednesday in Walhalla.  Staring at 10, the dog food for Oconee residents will be available at the Walhalla Shade Sail Plaza.

WGOG received word of a rollover car accident in front of Lake Keowee Ford and Chrysler on Highway 123, the Seneca-Clemson corridor, during the noon hour on Tuesday.

A Clemson physicist, Gerald Lehmacher, and others from the university, including researchers and students, found themselves in Norway for a recent launch of two sounding rockets.  The hope is that the rockets launched in March from Andoya Space in Norway will provide insight into how winds and energy from the Earth’s lower atmosphere affect the upper atmosphere, which can impact […]
