Thief snatches lawnmower

Someone took a riding lawnmower from a barn beside a home in Friendship community near Seneca. The Oconee Sheriff’s Department reports the stolen mower is a red Toro Ground Master 322 D and valued at $4,500. The owner last saw his riding mower on Wright Circle, off S. Friendship Road the Saturday before Mother’s Day.…

Workmen start on the new high school

More than 26 yards of concrete footings were poured yesterday at the construction property of the new Walhalla High School, and more footings are to be poured this afternoon. Oconee School District expects the entire project to take 22 to 24 months.

After interruption, 911 service restored!

911 service is operational again in eight South Carolina counties after an interruption this morning in telephone service.
