Walhalla policeman hurt in the line of duty

A Walhalla policeman injured during a foot chase of a suspect required hospital treatment.  During the chase, according to Chief Tim Rice, an officer jumped a small retaining wall but landed on large nails protruding from a board.  Still, the officer was able to handcuff his suspect.  The individual received tickets charging public disorderly conduct and failing to accompany.  The […]

Home fire near Westminster

A fire in the roof of a home yesterday near Westminster apparently spread and caused some damage to the living room.  No one reported hurt at the U-S 123, Westminster-Toccoa Highway address.  Among the fire fighters responding shortly before 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon were Westminster and Walhalla stations.
