Smoke is liable to be visible later today from SC 28 and the Cassidy Bridge Road, Mountain Rest, as USDA’s Forest Service conducts a prescribed burn of about 200 acres. A spokesman predicts the smoke will be minimal. The burn will commence around 11:30 this morning and completed around 5 pm. The purposes include wildlife habitat and fuels reduction.

State troopers report the pickup involved in Friday night’s fatal accident near the Madison Community hit tree stumps and a fence along a rural secondary road in the vicinity of Berry Farm Road and the Cleveland Pike.
