Assault case ready for a trial

South Carolina vs. Damian Laurier Bennett, a case alleging assault and battery second degree appears ready for trial at the start of a three-day term of Oconee General Sessions Court in Walhalla.  A court officer tells 101.7/WGOG NEWS it appears the case will be called for trial starting at 1:30 this afternoon.

A log-laden main thoroughfare

At this hour, Westminster’s Main Street in front of Walgreen remains a cleanup scene from this morning’s 9:30 accident.  Police Chief Matt Patterson says a log truck flipped onto its side, spilling many logs.  And that’s what they’ve been working on to clear Main Street.  It’s believed no one was hurt, and Patterson described the fuel spill as minor.
