A new Leadership Oconee class of grads

Eleven graduates are making up the first class of Leadership Oconee since the program was temporarily suspended by COVID-19 in 2020.  And those 11, whose names are to be announced, represent a variety of industries and organizations in Oconee County.  They’ll be graduated next week in a ceremony at a Seneca venue, according to the Oconee Chamber of Commerce.

“Runaway sprawl” decimates farmland

A representative of a national agriculture organization warned of the consequences of lost farmland in a presentation last night to the Oconee County Council.  The council’s visiting speaker, Billy Van Pelt of the American Farmland Trust, says his organization has the data on the country’s best soils—the soils the country is most likely to keep the country fed.
