Clemson announces that the Kite Hill recycling center is closed today through Monday — due to Hurricane Ian and Clemson’s home football game Saturday night.  The facility intends to re-open to business Tuesday, October 4.

At its meeting next week, the Clemson City Council will discuss–and set a public hearing–on a zoning law change that would clarify that “Help Wanted” signs are allowed but limited in size to 9 square feet.  It’s one of the agenda items for the city council’s October meeting, to take place 6:30 Monday night, October 3 at city hall.

Michael Smith, chief of Westminster Fire Department, awaits a report from fire fighters at the scene of a poultry house fire this morning beyond city limits.  It’s believed a quick stop to the Weldon Road fire was accomplished.

Seneca’s Northside Elementary will benefit today from a donation by the local Rotary club.  At their meeting, Seneca Rotarians will present funds to allow the school to buy additional books for its library.  Today is also the day the Rotarians salute the teachers of the year representing Seneca public schools.

Tomorrow’s zoning workshop in Westminster has been called off.  The city’s zoning and planning consultants live on the South Carolina coast.  The circumstances of the advancing hurricane make necessary allowing those individuals to make storm preparations.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office detained a 17 year old earlier this morning on a charge of Attempted Murder.   The 17 year old has also been charged with one count each of Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime and Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol.  The teenager was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around […]
