Special guests for West Union meeting

Two men are billed as special guests for this evening’s July meeting of the West Union Town Council.  Chris Eleazer of the Joint Regional Sewer Authority will discuss and answer questions about the authority which operates Oconee’s sewer service; Jeff Shacker of the state Municipal Association will explain to the mayor and council the proper procedures for meetings.

Car-pickup truck accident

The cross-trained members of Walhalla Fire Department were sent late yesterday afternoon to a highway 28, Blue Ridge Boulevard, accident in front of Edwards Auto Sales.  The 5:30 pm accident involved a car and a pickup pulling a trailer. Two people were sent to the hospital to be checked out, according to the fire department report.

A home fire response last night near Seneca required the presence of fire fighters for nearly two and one-half hours.  No injuries have been reported to 101.7/WGOG NEWS as the result of the fire on Goddard Avenue at James Street.  Seneca Fire Department was alerted just before 9 o’clock.
