Motorcycle crash fatal to Liberty man

Westminster water projects “shovel ready”

Water line replacements across Westminster service territory were pronounced yesterday “shovel ready”.  As such, two officials believe the city is in good stead to qualify for outside government financial help.  City administrator Kevin Bronson and engineering consultant Troy Rosier outlined possibilities to get money thru the Rural Development division of USDA and from a source that Bronson called “Skip” money.

The state’s chief executive in Walhalla tonight

Last Saturday one-half of a Republican ticket for governor/lieutenant governor, Pamela Evette, campaigned in a party event near Westminster.  Tonight in Walhalla, the other part of the ticket, Henry McMaster, speaks in a public event in the auditorium of the Performing Center for the Arts.  Gov. McMaster’s visit has been arranged by David McMahan, chairman of the county GOP.

Car accident on the Sandifer Boulevard

At this hour 123/the Sandifer Boulevard, according to the state patrol, is blocked to thru traffic in the vicinity of the Schneider Electric Plant — the result of a car accident.  Accounts indicate this is a serious accident which has required the presence of emergency responders.  The accident was logged by the patrol at 12:38 pm.

Courthouse re-opens after bomb threat

An officer of the court says the Oconee Courthouse in Walhalla closed this morning, after a telephoned bomb threat.
