Trucks wreck and By-Pass traffic snarls

For several minutes this morning traffic on the 123 By-Pass backed up after an 18-wheeler and a Ford Econoline van wrecked in front of the Waffle Hut.  The accident occurred around 9:30 this morning.  Police Chief Casey Bowling, speaking to 101.7/WGOG NEWS as he directed traffic, reported one person required medical treatment.

Plane crash near Utica

A small engine airplane went down early last night in the vicinity of Wells Highway and Goddard Avenue.  Sheriff Mike Crenshaw said the only occupant aboard was injured and taken to a hospital.  Witnesses reported the plane lost power.  The pilot was identified to 101.7/WGOG NEWS as a Georgia resident.  Crenshaw said his officers last night awaited the arrival of […]

Late night West Union fire

Fire spread from location to location late last night on West Union’s Fernwood Drive.  Reports received by County Dispatch indicate the fire started in one building, spread to a second building, and eventually to a vehicle.  No injuries reported.  Fire fighters required three hours’ work at the fire scene, starting shortly after 10:15 last night.
