A dumpster behind the Walhalla Steak House on Main Street, Walhalla caught fire yesterday afternoon.  No injuries reported and the fire was confined to that receptacle. That was one of several fire-related and medical calls responded to yesterday by the cross-trained Walhalla fire Department.

Fatalities in two Anderson County wrecks

The Anderson coroner reports two people dead–the result of two separate Sunday afternoon traffic accidents.  In one, an Anderson sheriff’s officer was hurt and taken to a hospital.  He was identified by the state patrol as Jonathan Michael Westbrook, 30 years old.  Coroner Greg Shore identified the fatality of that accident as 80-year old Sarah Parson of Anderson, driver of […]

Railroad death update

The Oconee County coroner says a death on the railroad Friday was a self-destructive act on the part of the victim.  Coroner Addis said the victim of the 3:30 am Friday incident was a 26-year old Seneca resident, whose name was not publicly disclosed.  He died of blunt force trauma when hit an a northbound Amtrak train.
