The state senator from Oconee-Pickens, Thomas Alexander, calls for action about the bridge spanning Lake Hartwell from Clemson to Oconee.  About the U-S 123 bridge, Alexander confirms:  “I have made a request to have the bridge resurfaced or other attention to the bridge for smoothness.”

A car and an Oconee school bus collided yesterday near Salem, according to information received by 101.7/WGOG NEWS.  Spokeswoman Jennifer Dodd of the school district said 13 students were aboard, but just one bus student required an assessment by a school nurse.  No other injuries known.

In the area of mental health services, Prisma Health announces the addition of what’s called a crisis stabilization suite at the Oconee Memorial Hospital.  Planned for opening this fall are eight beds for adults and child/adolescents.  Funding by the Department of Health and Human Services.
