Broken electric poles in and around Salem

Today alone, 280 metered Blue Ridge Electric locations in and around Salem have been restored to service.  By midday, 421 Co-Op customers were awaiting re-connection.  Workers counted 68 broken, wood poles, most within the same area.  With 300 operations employees on the job, Blue Ridge expects power to be restored to all customers by tonight.

Delays in COVID test results called “unacceptable

Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative Update

By 6:45 this morning, Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative counted 701 customers without service–all of them in Oconee County.  Most are within a hard-hit Salem area.  Izzy broke a large number of electric power poles that take time to fix.  All 300 of Blue Ridge’s operations workers are concentrating on addressing the problems in the Salem area.
