Fire traced to wood stove

Chief Caudill of the Seneca Fire Department says last night’s fire at a home south of railroad tracks was traced to a wood stove in the garage at 515 S. Cherry, near 6th Street.  From the garage, the fire damaged the roof and attic.  Damage was rated as moderate.  City and volunteers from the Friendship department responded around 7 o’clock.

Fire broke out early last night in the garage of a Seneca home.  That fire, at 515 S. Cherry Street, spread from the garage into the attic. No immediate cause known.  City fire fighters were alerted shortly after 7 and required two and a half hours before they returned to headquarters.
