Tenth Circuit Judge Scott Sprouse will enter the Oconee Courtroom this morning to preside over one week of county General Sessions Court.  The prosecutors’ office has prepared a docket of six potential cases for trial by jury.  In those cases, the defendants face charges of traffic violations, domestic violence, public disorderly, drug crimes, and assault and battery.

A Westminster man, Dale Glymph, threw his hat into the political arena and qualified to run for a city council seat in the November election.  Earlier, Youself Mefleh qualified to run for re-election.  On the 2nd of November, Westminster voters will choose three members for their city council.

In their special Friday meeting, Clemson City Council members agreed on an emergency rule requiring facial coverings to be worn in essential locations in their city.  They include grocery stores, medical offices, and drug stores.  Banks are not included.  The other ordinance requires face coverings in indoor locations in schools, pre-schools, kindergartens and day cares in the city.

After a week and a half of being reported missing, an Oconee County teenager has been located safe in Georgia and, according to investigators, she has been returned to her family.  Ashlyn Bailey Miller left her home August 12.  That led to the filing of a missing person report and investigators began to follow leads to try to find her.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is providing guidance today on a question pertaining to the recently signed Open Carry with Training Act. Some big numbers popped out on this afternoon’s COVID-19 numbers from South Carolina DHEC.  On Wednesday, the latest count day, health officials counted 4,007 new confirmed cases.  Of that 4,000 number, there were 80 in Oconee County; 177 in Pickens County; and 180 in Anderson County.  New, additional deaths across the state were 25, including one in Oconee County and […]
