Today’s report from South Carolina DHEC reflects the numbers from Sunday.  There were 87 new confirmed cases statewide, none in Oconee County.  And across South Carolina no coronavirus deaths for that 24-hour count.  Of 6,427 test results received, positivity was 1.9%.

For one hour tomorrow, food will be distributed from a Walhalla church.  Boxes of food are to be given away from 4:30 to 5:30 tomorrow evening at the St. Luke Methodist Church.

We are receiving word that, after a one-year hiatus caused by the world pandemic, there will be a Hillbilly Day this July in Oconee County.  It’s a traditional 4th of July celebration of real hillbillies and make-believe ones on the grounds of the Mountain Rest Community Club.

The Joint Regional Sewer Authority has a new budget.  It also has a striking division among the members of its policy-making board.  On the vote to set the new budget, the Walhalla and Westminster members voted yes; the Seneca members voted no. Fire broke out just after 11 last night in a Nissan Sentra on Seneca’s West Quincy Road. No injuries reported.

An assistant principal at Seneca High will take charge of the school district’s Hamilton Career and Technology Center.  The school district announces Carson LeCroy as the new career center director, in place of Chad Lusk.
