On yesterday’s report from South Carolina DHEC:  502 new cases of COVID-19, including eight in Oconee County.  Statewide:  six new deaths.  Of 18,196 total test results received, the South Carolina positivity was 4.6%.  Saturday’s state health agency report tracking the virus contained 571 new cases, 15 in Oconee. Fire damaged a home last night near Westminster, on Harry’s Drive off the Coffee Road.  Although the fire was small in size, the American Red Cross is assisting one occupant.  The fire call was sounded just before 8:45.

With Brent Taylor taking a job near Raleigh, North Carolina, Walhalla has designated Fire Chief Brandon Burton interim city administrator.  Taylor says his last day with Walhalla will be March 26, before leaving to be the town administrator in Selma, North Carolina.

A young Westminster man died after a one-car accident early Saturday in the Oakway Community. Coroner Addis says Tanner Scott Silvers, a 19-year old, died at 3:10 Saturday morning while in the care of the EMS.  According to the highway patrol, Silvers was one of two occupants in a 2003 Volkswagen that left SC 24 in front of the Pioneer […]
