A 13-year resident of the Upstate is the new Youth Services Librarian for the Oconee Public Library.  She is Liberty resident Kasey Swords, who counts 11 previous years in library work, in almost every aspect of the business, according to Blair Hinson, county library director.

At the Oconee Animal Shelter, the dog kennels are full beyond capacity and the Humane Society has waived adoption fees.  All available pets are spay/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines.

The state patrol reports the death of Katrina Whitfield, a car driver in a Saturday afternoon accident in Oconee County.  Coroner Karl Addis says Whitfield is a 54-year old Westminster resident.   The accident, at 3:15 pm, involved a Chevy automobile and a pickup truck at the T-intersection of Stribling and Richland roads.
