Tech revamps, renames program

The engineering and industrial technology division of Tri-County Technical College has renamed and revamped its manufacturing management program. The program underwent a title change last month and is now called Manufacturing Management and Leadership. According to Stan Compton, program coordinator, to better reflect the skills of a first-line manager in today’s manufacturing facilities.

Deputy’s suspicion pays off

The suspicions of an Oconee deputy sheriff paid off in the early morning hours Saturday with the capture of three suspected thieves. Elderly man killed in Easley car accident

An autopsy takes place today in the traffic death Saturday night of an 81-year old Easley man in his home town. Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley identified the victim as Robert Bowens of N. 4th Street, Easley. Bowens died in a crash at 6:30 on highway 123—an accident investigated by the Easley police.

Burdette guilty of voluntary manslaughter

The Oconee trial of Adam Burdette ended with a guilty verdict to a lesser charge than murder. Jury to deliberate shortly

Right now members of the Oconee General Sessions trial jury are having lunch.  They then will start their deliberations in the case of Adam Burdette, charged with murder in the shooting death of Evan Tyner in 2013 near Westminster.  The jurors must choose among five choices:  guilty, not guilty, voluntary manslaughter, involuntary manslaughter, or accident.
