  The Seneca police say the two young men killed by gunfire last weekend, at the time, were making a gun deal.  According to the police statement, Zema Darnell Fling was selling a gun to Christopher Hunter Todd.  “During the purchase gun shots were exchanged.  Resulting in the death of both individuals,” the statement reads.  The investigation continues.  

Fire fighters rolled to a home fire last night in Westminster.  Shortly before 8:30, fire was reported in a home on Lane Drive near W. King Street.  No injuries were reported.

State revenue agents arrested an Anderson CEO today on multiple charges of tax evasion.  According to announcement by the South Carolina Revenue Department, James Patrick Federspiel is accused over a seven-year period of evading a total of $393,264 in state taxes.  It states that 76-year old Federspiel is president and part owner of companies that earned a total of $6.3 […]

The Walhalla police announced the arrest this week of a city resident charged with a sex offense.  According to the police, evidence was gathered in an investigation of a report October 10 that led to the charge of criminal sexual conduct with a minor against Wayne Clinton Seavey.  The arrest was made Tuesday.

Figures for first time unemployment claims were released today for the U-S, including Oconee County.  For the country, in one week, 751 thousand new claims were filed.  For the the week November 1-7 in South Carolina, 125 members of the Oconee workforce filed for assistance.  The average South Carolina benefit for the week was $227.92.  Last week was the 33rd […]
