Shaw returns to practice

South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw returned to practice on Wednesday, the first time he’s seen work since injuring his right throwing shoulder in the Gamecocks win over Vanderbilt last Thursday. Carolina is set to open the home season Saturday with a noon-hour kick-off against the East Carolina Pirates.

In high school volleyball on Tuesday, Walhalla defeated Seneca 3-1 in the Western AAA opener. Seneca won the first set, but the Razorbacks finished with three straight for the overall win. Elsewhere, Daniel defeated West-Oak 3-0. Senior Carly Hoover led Daniel with 14 kills.
