Autism awareness this month!

April 3, 2014

Across South Carolina, it’s Autism Awareness Month. And Governor Haley proclaimed Tuesday as Autism Awareness Day. According to the South Carolina Autism Awareness Society, autism spectrum disorder affects an estimated 1.8 million Americans and more than 52 thousand South Carolinians. The governor’s proclamation recognizes the importance of an early diagnosis and the positive effects that an appropriate education and intervention can have on those affected by the disorder.
