Award recognizes Seneca’s switch to all-electric buses

Seneca’s switch to a fleet of all electric-powered buses has merited an award from a state agency.   The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control named Seneca and the Clemson Area Transit winners of its “Spare the Air” award—symbolic of the city and its passenger bus service provider environmental-friendly efforts.  Word of the award arrived yesterday at City Hall and was announced by City Administrator Greg Dietterick during last night during a city council special meeting.  DHEC officials want to make an official presentation and, Dietterick said, a ceremony for that is likely to take place at city’s bus terminal near Utica at a date to be announced.
