Awards presented for tornado safety posters

A 5th grader at Walhalla Elementary School is this year’s overall, grand prize winner in the annual Oconee County School Tornado Safety Contest. Kayleigh Toole receives a $45 cash reward and a weather radio. Oconee Emergency Services, contest sponsor, also named individual grade first and second place winners. The contest purpose is to educate children on the dangers of tornadoes and make them aware of the protective actions that should be taken.
