Bank project good sign for Walhalla

July 24, 2012

An architectural-style building so reminiscent of the mid to late 20th century will soon be replaced by a new Blue Ride Bank at the corner of Main and College in Walhalla. The new-look Blue Ridge Bank will incorporate the look of a mountain bank. And, why not, for the higher elevations are within eyeshot.

But the new investment being made by Blue Ridge Bank in downtown Walhalla is not just good for its business, it’s good for business overall, especially at a time of empty storefronts. And it sends a positive message for Walhalla’s future.

From a government standpoint, the city’s future will be addressed in what could be a day-long retreat meeting to be held August 3 by the mayor and city council. Let’s hope some good comes from the retreat meeting.

That’s our view. What’s yours?
