Bartee spends first night in jail

James Bartee spent the first night of his five-year prison sentence in the Oconee Detention Center. His lawyer announced in court that he’ll attempt to obtain a recognizance bond that’ll allow his client to be freed while his side pursues an appeal of yesterday’s verdict. That verdict was guilty to the charge of solicitation to commit a felony and it brought A sentence handed down by Judge Lawton McIntosh that amounts to 10 years, suspended to five years, and five years probation. Bartee is to undergo a psychiatric evaluation and complete 250 hours community service. The verdict came yesterday afternoon in two hours time and it followed a trial that ran all of last week and featured four days of testimony.
