Baseball team’s equipment stolen

Seneca has rolled out the carpet for the baseball teams in the Dixie Youth World Series. The entrant from Sumter, however, is liable to leave town with a sour taste in its mouth. Someone broke into the team’s trailer outside the motel where the coaches and players were staying and took catcher’s gear, gloves, cleats, aluminum bats and sunglasses. The value of the stolen equipment: $9 thousand. The crime was reported Saturday morning at the Quality Inn on Hi-Tec Road, where the Sumter team was staying. A license tag and an Igloo cooler were taken from a pickup truck. If you have information on this crime, contact CrimeStoppers at 864/638-STOP or text a tip to 274637.
