Bear and three cubs spotted in Walhalla

The police in Walhalla are being told that a bear and three cubs have been spotted at least twice today on one side of the city and later inside the city.  And Chief Ronald Wilbanks says he has been in touch with the state DNR and told the city should consider trapping the animals.  A source told 101.7/WGOG NEWS the first sighting was this morning on the Coffee Road in the vicinity of Liberty Lodge.  Wilbanks says a woman told him she saw one of the cubs run toward Cane Creek at the back part of Sertoma Field.  There’s some belief that the bears might be smelling the aroma of the food that is being cooked on Main Street as part of the Mayfest Art of Living two-day festival.
