Beaten woman remains hospitalized

November 28, 2012

Oconee sheriff’s officers have identified a 48-year old Westminster woman as the victim in an assault discovered yesterday at Fair Play Landing Beach on Lakeshore Drive. According to Chief Deputy Terry Wilson, Diane Johnson remains a patient this morning at AnMed in Anderson, though he did not know her condition. Wilson says investigators are asking for the public’s help by offering a reward for information through CrimeStoppers, which may be contacted at 864/638-STOP. Officers yesterday interviewed a man who, while walking the beach, found Johnson in the sand. Investigators say she had suffered head trauma unable to speak. They have collected some beach scene evidence, including a vehicle now impounded, which they are processing to help in the investigation.
