The Belton-Honea Path Bears, ranked #6 in the state’s AAA classification, rolled to its third straight shutout win Friday night, with a 49-0 victory over West-Oak in a game broadcast on 96.3 WGOG from Warrior Field in Westminster. The Bears, and their high-powered offense, scored on the first play from scrimmage on a 64-yard pass from quarterback Dylan Spence to receiver Eric Boggs. Spence would add another passing score in the second quarter, when he connected with Ryan Greer for 25 yards. On West-Oak’s first offensive possession, following a 3-and-out, BHP blocked a punt, with T.C. McCullough returning the ball into the endzone to make the score 14-0 after less than two minutes of play. The Bears saw scores on the night from Dax Roper (3 yard rush), McCullough (5 yard rush), and Dee Clinkscales (rushes of 15 and 66 yards). Spence finished the night 6-of-8 for 131 yards and two scores. Spence did toss one interception, picked off by West-Oak’s Levi Neave.
Elsewhere last night, Seneca rolled to a 64-13 win over struggling Palmetto, while Walhalla had its homecoming spoiled by a 59-7 loss to Emerald.
