Bids to be let for OC highway work

By the middle of next year, Oconee motorists should be able to enjoy a smoother surface on which to maneuver through one of the county’s busiest intersections.  A DOT official tells 96.3/WGOG NEWS that the state’s bid letting to re-surface a short section of 123 at Seneca will take place in January, with the expectation that the job will be started by March.  The re-surfacing of 123 from Lindsey Roadto the Old Salem Road will pass through Seneca’s east intersection:  130/E-N 1^st Street.  Josh Makison, resident construction engineer for the Department of Transportation, says because of high volumes of traffic the work will be done during off-peak hours.  For everyone’s safety—the public and the roadpavers—everyone should make a mental note to slow down and be careful in and around that work zone.
