Bill Whitmire a pre-filer for 2014

All the leaves are brown and the sky is gray…and Bill Whitmire has his attention set on a couple of specific pieces of legislation in the state House of Representatives after the first of the year in 2014. The Walhalla Republican who represents District One wants to change state law so as to require moped operators and passengers to wear reflective vests, to require mopeds sold in South Carolina to be equipped with a rear tail light that flashes continually while the scooter-type vehicle is in motion. And he wants to require a rear red tail light that flashes continually when the moped is running. Whimire also is co-authoring a bill setting a date to elect judges, college trustees, and others in 2014. Yesterday was the first of two dates House Speaker Bobby Harrell set to pre-file House bills. The bills have been assigned a number, tentative committee assignment, and posted to the legislative website.
