Blessing for merger to be asked Tuesday

November 14, 2013

The idea of two becoming one in Oconee County circles is being pursued to enhance the county’s economic development. And next week the County Council is to receive a presentation from its administrator and the chairman of the public-private Oconee Alliance. We spoke today to Alliance Chairman Robert Halfacre: “We’re actually going in front of County Council this Tuesday, hopefully for the blessing of the merger of the groups between the Oconee County (Economic Development) Commission and the Alliance,” he told us. If all goes well Tuesday night at Pine Street, it appears the last official meeting of the Oconee Alliance will be December 12.
