Blood Connection shows its appreciation to Oconee students

Students at Oconee’s HamiltonCareerCenter recently donated a total of 90 units to the Blood Connection, the organization which supplies the region’s blood needs.  And, to show its appreciation, the Blood Connection gave $1 thousand to the career center’s chapter of Health Occupations Students of America.  Each unit of blood donated has the potential to help three people in need.  As future healthcare employees, the career center chapter is proud to support The Blood Connection.  The next blood drive is scheduled for February 10th and 11th of 2015. The $1 thousand will help to offset the expenses of the state and national conferences students attend each year.  These conferences provide students the opportunity to compete in over 50 healthcare skill/knowledge competitions, showcasing their abilities and passion for healthcare.  The cost per student is approximately $250 dollars.  Last year 42 students participated.  If you would like to sponsor a student to attend the State Leadership Conference in March 2015, contact: Patricia W. Smith, student advisor.
