Blue Ridge’s after school program

A grant-funded after school program at a Seneca elementary school provides children academic enrichment and organized recreation activities.  And Ryan Schwartz says the program typically sends children home from the Blue Ridge Elementary School after they’ve had a nutritious, hot meal.  A Maryland native, Schwartz is credited with securing a grant that will allow the program to continue through 2019.  About 60 students from Blue Ridge’s 3rd thru 5th grades are enrolled in the program that is taught by members of the school faculty, aided by donations from churches and others in the community.  Yesterday Schwartz spoke to the Seneca Rotary Club.
