Boaters reminded to always ‘Wear It!’

Boating safety advocates this week are reminding everyone always wear a life jacket while recreation boating. It’s a simple life-saving strategy. City of Seneca, with Lake Keowee on its north side, is calling attention to National Safe Boating Week. Mayor Dan Alexander has issued a proclamation that contains some valuable pieces of information now that the 2015 recreation season is underway. U-S Coast Guard statistics show that drowning was the reported cause of deaths in three-fourths of recreation boating fatalities in 2013, and 84% of those who drowned were not wearing life jackets.
