Body in lake was missing kayaker

The body of a man pulled from Lake Hartwell last Sunday has been positively identified as that of a missing kayaker from West Union. WLHR Radio quotes a Georgia DNR officer as saying an autopsy confirms the body was that of Brady Hamby. He had taken his kayak into the lake February 11 from Hartwell State Park, but never returned. The next day the kayak was washed ashore on the Georgia side. Dive and rescue teams searched for Hamby for several days but gave up when severe weather hit. The DNR’s Craig Fulghum said the body was found last Sunday afternoon by a fisherman near Shoal Creek. An autopsy determined the cause of Brady Hamby’s death was accidental drowning.
