Body Recovered from Chattooga

Officials with the recovery efforts on the Chattooga River have recovered the body of a Tampa Florida man who fell from a raft June 19.  The body of Thomas Hill was recovered late this morning.  Crews have been searching the Chattooga River since Thomas Hill was reported missing. Mr Hill was married and father of 4. The recovery efforts have been hampered by recent heavy rains which caused an increase in the river flows. During a press conference this afternoon, Ron Hedden of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources read a statement of Thanks from Hill’s employer. The 4:30 press conference was held at the incident command post at the Long Creek Fire Station.  The recovery effort took 17 days.
