BREC withstands cold and wet month

A cold and wet January means a spike in power bills. But, as a Clemson man told us this week, he’s just happy to have a warm house. The multi-county electric power retailer Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative experienced a month avoiding major interruptions. Its spokesman, Terry Ballenger, says improvements system wide, such as Blue Ridge’s tree and tree-limb cutting program, have helped. Ice and power lines, he says, just do not mix.
