Bridge over Richland Creek to be replaced

Once again, those who drive the Bountyland Road are faced by a detour.  The DOT is administering the replacement of a problem bridge over the Richland Creek.  If all goes well, says one DOT official, the new bridge should be finished, wrapped in a bow, and ready for vehicle traffic in time for Christmas.  A few years ago, bridge traffic was detoured as a new foundation was laid, but the DOT’s Josh Makison described that work as temporary only.  Much of the new bridge will arrive in the form of pre-cast material.  The project is made possible as part of a package of new bridge work funded by state Act 98, which provides extra funds for bridge and road work.
