Brown Room now a showcase for technology

For decades, Clemson University has paid homage to one of the state’s long ago political leaders with a room in its library containing many of the politician’s keepsakes. If you’ve visited the Edgar Brown Room at the Cooper Library, you’ll have noticed his photographs, certificates, hat rack, desk, chairs and conference tables. Brown was a state senator, known as the Bishop of Barnwell. But, now those artifacts have been moved to the Thurmond Institute. The Edgar Brown Room at the library has been transformed to a state-of-the-art environment for learning and research enabled by technology. The new facility grand opening is tomorrow afternoon 2 to 3 o’clock. Key features include a visualization wall of 15, 46-inch high-definition displays, laptop computers for 16 students with software customization available, along with network and visual connections.
