Bryan Long wins Officer of the Year

A 12-year deputy with the Oconee Sheriff’s Office, Bryan Long, walked away from a dinner in Seneca Monday night with the Officer of the Year Award, presented by the Seneca American Legion.  Since 1977, the Seneca legionnaires saluted law enforcement agencies with an annual dinner.  Guest speaker for Monday’s event was John Magill, director of the South Carolina Department of Mental Health.  Award winner Long has 15 years law enforcement experience, which include stints with the police departments in both Seneca and Chesnee.  For three years he has worked as Sergeant for the Alpha shift for the Sheriff’s Uniform Patrol Division.  He’s a member of the county “SWAT” team, a certified instructor and member of the dive team, and a volunteer fire fighter.
