Buoys on the lake and drough update

An issue front and center on the minds of lake users is the removal of what the state deems illegal buoys. And that issue will leadoff a public meeting at 6:30 Thursday night at Duke’s World of Energy. FOLKS—Friends of Lake Keowee—has made arrangements to present two officers of South Carolina DNR to explain why some buoys have been removed from Lake Keowee. A “no fault buoy give-back” was held last week at High Falls Park, but only four people came forward to reclaim their property. The second half of Thursday night’s meeting will be devoted to how drought stages are determined, as explained by Duke Energy’s Ed Bruce. The evening will begin with refreshments at 6 o’clock.
